Champion Maryland
fiddler Kate Lissauer leads this six piece old-time string band,
which, in keeping with its age-old tradition, travels the rural
countryside bringing music and fun wherever it goes. The music is derived
from traditional roots music of the southern United States, from the
wonderful and wacky repertoire of early string band recordings and
the original writing of the band.
The ensemble of fiddle,
banjo, guitar, ukulele, bass and ‘stepatune’ bring you lively and
soulful tunes, delicious harmonies, flamboyant percussive step-dance
and warm engaging humour to entertain and delight the entire
community.

The music of Jamie
Smith’s Mabon is well described as original, Interceltic, world
music. Composed by accordionist Jamie Smith, and performed by five
highly accomplished musicians, it draws inspiration directly from the
traditional folk music of the Celtic countries.
Featuring jigs and
reels and dance related tunes such as French mazurka and Breton an
dro, Mabon’s performances forge a range of forms and styles of
Celtic music into something bold and new. Fresh from festivals at
home and abroad, ‘the band will perform tunes and songs from their
new album Windblown’ and from their award winning album, ‘Live at
the Grand Pavilion’ which received widespread critical acclaim.

performed his supernatural tales to friends at Christmas in King’s
College, Cambridge. Now Nunkie Theatre Company has brought two of
these unforgettable spine-chillers back to life.
Oh, Whistle, And I’ll
Come to You, My Lad – a tale of nocturnal horror on the Suffolk
coast – is considered by many to be James’ masterpiece. It is
beautifully complemented here by The Ash Tree, a story of witchcraft
and vengeance down the generations.

Dance
Gypsy Fiddle Feast is a
powerful performance brimming with colour, excitement and charisma.
Inspired by the ancient magic of Romany music, violin virtuoso,
Gundula Gruen, has created an exuberant show in which the fire of
Eastern European Gypsy music is brought to life with stirring musical
arrangements. The show also features exhilarating dances from
countries such as Hungary, Russia, Turkey and Macedonia, from tap and
slap dance influences, exuberant skirt whirling to sensual moves from
the East.
Performed by Gundula’s
ensemble Tatcho Drom (True Journey) the Fiddle Feast is the
celebration of a new generation of Balkan Gypsy collaborations.
Following the show’s UK debut at London’s Purcell Room, Tatcho
Drom take a taste of this fabulous feast to venues across the UK.
